Killing your acquaintances
It's a well-known stance that one should be prepared to kill one's darlings. It then comes as no surprise that you should be even more inclined to let go off things you hold less dear as well. Occassionaly you need to be reminded about it though and I just were by Kim when I gave her my Agila Sverige talk in broad strokes. Unlike my talk from last year, I simply couldn't muster as much pathos for this year's talk, only logos.
In the end we came to the conclusion that I should throw it away and start anew at the kernel the synopsis sprung from: the highly personal fear of obsolescence I not long ago felt. So I did, and I'm confident that next week's talk will be much, much better for it.
